The Amazing Dagwood

In January of 2013 I had a few days of vacation from work so decided to take a dog from the shelter on a ‘doggie day out.’ I had met Dagwood at an adoption event and subsequently took his picture at the shelter where I noticed what an elite fetcher he was.  I thought he would appreciate a day away from the shelter where he could play fetch and get some exercise (high energy Border Collie) so we broke out of the shelter and headed straight to the dog park.  The second day I brought him home I noticed that he appeared lethargic and then developed classic upper respiratory infection symptoms so we decided to keep him at our home as a foster while he recovered on two rounds of antibiotics.  Well, ….we fell in love.  I looked in his eyes every day and just couldn’t believe that he came in as a stray yet nobody claimed him.  It broke my heart because he is the sweetest and most gentle dog and wants nothing more than to please his people.  He and my cat seemed to tolerate each other fairly well so in February we decided to make it official and became a foster fail.  Dagwood still enjoys his daily dose of fetch and has acclimated quite well to becoming a spoiled puppy and we are so happy he is a part of our family.

Seriously…his face is too cute.  I love coming home and seeing the black & white muzzle waiting in the window every day.

Border Collies LOVE to work and Dagwood is no exception.  I needed to test out lighting in my studio and Dagwood stepped up to the job!

So cute when he sleeps!

This was taken on my iphone but I just couldn’t risk missing it!  Dagwood was a little confused when he first got to our home and thought he had to share a bed with the cat 🙂

We had a LOT of snow in Kansas City this winter but that did not stop Dagwood.  He would sniff out that ball… a foot of snow proved no challenge for him!  Here are some of my favorites.

Get to know me!

I have always been more interested in capturing everyday moments and genuine emotions of people and this is reflected in how I photograph my clients. I will always prefer laughter instead of a cheesy smile. I will always prefer to leave the disney band-aid on the scabbed knee instead of photoshopping it out. I will always prefer the image of you gazing at your dog as he wags his tail and kisses your face despite how 'fat' you feel. Time goes REALLY fast so choose to live in the moment and I would love to capture it for you!
